Meet Jennifer Hine, from the Etsy shop ElegantQuirk.

I am just a girl who loves any kind of creativity – music, art, crafts, dancing around my kitchen… I love to try my hand at many different kinds of crafts, and don’t know where I would be without that creative outlet. I love to run my shop, ElegantQuirk, and bring products that are fun and bring a smile to people’s faces.

Tell us about what you sell on Etsy:
The majority of my shop is jewelry racks and key holders. These have also been used as kitchen utensil holders, scarf holders, hat racks, etc. I also have some personalized leash holders, and a few listings of confetti made out of leftover papers. I like to make a wide variety and range of these key racks so that someone who comes along will find one that they love.

What is your favorite thing about creating?
I love the creative outlet of crafting and creating new pieces. It’s just fun! I love to walk through the store aisle and look at new papers, just imagining what they would look like repurposed into a jewelry rack. I like to think about what I would like to have having on my wall as well as what others – little kids, men, grandmothers – would like to have also. It’s fun to “get into the mind” of the customer and try to create something that everyone would love.

Where do you find your inspiration?
My inspiration just comes from creativity and variety – covering all the bases with my creations. I want to provide something for everyone, and it’s a fun challenge to take on!

Do you have any selling tips or tricks for other Etsy sellers?
I think that goal making is very important, so I have a lot of little goals for each month. For example, reaching 50 listings, listing 2 a week, 10 sales, etc. I would encourage new artists to do the same for a great start.

Probably the most beneficial thing I did was join an etsy team. There are many out there, some very active, and some very quiet, on all different topics. You just need to find one that is good for you. I’m a proud member of the CAST team on etsy, and have to say that they have been the most helpful, most encouraging part of the whole process. It helps to have people there to support you, and encouraging you to just keep going!
