I am the creative force behind the SK Brand of hand crafted beaded gemstone and wire jewelry offered by Simply Katie’s/SK Wire Jewelry. I’ve been beading since 2005, started incorporating wire in my jewelry in 2009, and am now an aspiring metals-smith since August of 2012. I have a passion for design, love to create things with my hands, and believe in the art of handmade.
Tell us about what you sell:
The SK brand of handcrafted beaded gemstone and wire jewelry is created to enhance the natural beauty of women around the world with casual elegant designs in a distinctive minimalist style. Each design is created with natural elements such as gemstones, fwc pearls, coral, and bone beads paired with copper, sterling & fine silver or gold plated wire to compliment beaded pairings. Sonya, my assistant once told me “if all your jewelry designs were created as one design line, I would call it Life”. SK jewelry items include gemstone beaded bracelets, beaded and wire earrings, beaded and wire necklaces, and soon to be listed are wire rings and pendants.

What is your favorite thing about creating?
My favorite thing about creating is that I get to use my gift to put a smile on my customers faces.
Where do you find your inspiration?
I find inspiration in the gemstones, in the wire, in just about anything really, but I love nature, I love architecture, ironwork, sculpture and painted art and I draw a lot of my inspiration from these in relation to color, textures and construction.

Do you have any advice for other sellers?
Advice? First I would say that if you’re really passionate about your craft strive to be the best at it, never stop learning new techniques growing your skills. Stay focused on building a consistent brand throughout your business, carrying it over to your peripheral sites and local events. Engage and communicate with your customers, and get involved and participate in your online and neighborhood communities. Be yourself and be purposed with integrity.
