I founded Chicago Fine Threads in 2007 after choosing to depart the corporate world. Picking vegetables from our garden, inviting friends over for dinner parties and exploring new cities with my husband are things that bring me joy. My mantra is that we are all unique individuals, so celebrate your individuality through your creativity; personal style is lost when you look like everyone else.

Chicago Fine Threads handbags has two shops on Etsy. Chicago Fine Threads Luxe handbags focus on special occasion, wedding and one-of-a-kind clutch purses. Chicago Fine Threads Studio encompass’ the everyday sporty handbag because every woman likes to look great for their next adventure.

What is your favorite thing about creating?
Creating a new style of handbag from an idea rewards me with pride and happiness. Seeing the idea come to reality a completed design, makes me super excited to share it with fashion conscious women everywhere.

Where do you find your inspiration?
I love to travel. Traveling removes me from my comfort zone and everyday elements. You open yourself to new ideas, new visions and new connections. Whether hiking or sitting at a café people watching, the colors and textures of my surroundings inspire my next designs.

Do you have any selling tips or tricks for other handmade sellers?
Chicago Fine Threads handbags opened its first shop on Etsy in 2008. Consistency is key. All your photos should be clear, crisp, no distracting backgrounds. Shoppers have a short attention span so keep your descriptions informative without being too wordy. Join a local Etsy group through the forums. I use Etsy as a marketing tool everywhere I go. It is a place where you can showcase your items in an easy to understand format. Many of my sales come from local people I interact with regularly that see my designs in the two Chicago Fine Threads shops. They love that I personally deliver their handbags.
