Meet Ellen from Ellen’s Bead Flowers

Can you sum yourself up in 3 sentences? Give it a go!
I am a crafter and (recently graduated) marine biologist who loves to make the world a more beautiful place! I live in the Netherlands with my fiance in a beautiful small apartment that has been taken over by my beaded flowers. I love to read, create, learn and have fun in life!

Tell us about what you sell:
I make mainly beaded flowers, and the occasional beaded non-flower item. It’s a perfect way to brighten up your home if you don’t have green fingers, or are tired of buying a new bunch of flowers every week after the old ones wilt, or any other reason you can think of to brighten your home! (But honestly, do you really need a reason beside making your living space as lovely as possible?) My collection includes tons of different flowers and variations on flowers (roses in 1, 2 or 3 colors for example), baby gifts, brooches, candles, complete flower arrangements in pots & vases and Do It Yourself kits. Everything I make is handcrafted by me, partly custom orders partly ready made items that can be bought directly through the web or at craft fairs! I have two websites with small webshop; one in English, one in Dutch. ellensbeadflowers.webs.com and ellenskralenbloemen.webs.com are them. My Etsy shop is here: www.etsy.com/shop/Ellensbeadflowers and you can buy by commenting on Facebook photos here: www.facebook.com/ellensbeadflowers

What is your favorite thing about creating?
That you make something beautiful. I’ve spent most of my life until now (recently graduated…) doing mostly theoretical work and learning, not much practical things. So the feeling of working with my hands is important to me. Not as important as the smiles on my customers’ faces when they find their perfect flower gift in my shop though! Whether it is a ready made item or a custom order, the smiles are important.

Where do you find your inspiration?
Everywhere. Literally. I can walk past a flower shop, peek inside and discover a whole new color combination I’d never thought of before… or talk with a good friend about a random topic and suddenly *boom* inspiration makes something click and there’s a new idea in my head. A friend of mine got pregnant, I wanted to make something special for the not-yet-born baby… that’s how the baby gifts were created! Currently I’m also slowly, oh so slowly working on some wedding-related items. I hope to get married to my fiance soon, and of course my bridal bouquet and the corsages need to be beaded!

Thanks so much, both of you!
I do recommend to check out at least my website OR my Facebook page – because I get little traffic on my Etsy shop I don’t have lots of stuff in there!
