A Nautical Maiden

As soon as I saw the announcement for May’s EtsyBeadweaver’s creative challenge, “Nautical,” I knew right away I had to make something featuring a mermaid. Is it any surprise to any of you, really? My obsession with the fantastic seductresses hasn’t exactly been hidden.

I wasn’t sure if my little brick stitch sculptured design would end up being a part of a necklace or bracelet at first, or perhaps a key chain, a bookmark, or something else entirely. I decided I like the way she looked at a slant, as an off-skew pendant for a chain necklace. So my mermaid swims along the metallic blue chain, swimming along her wearer’s neckline.
