Welcoming WINTER

Today is the official day the season of winter begins.

I know this because my little desktop planner/calendar tells me so. Hence, it MUST be true. (To argue would be sacrilege.)

Where I’m at in Eastern WA, winter tends to start a little earlier (like, early November earlier), and stick around just a tad past it’s welcome. (Snow in May is sooooo NOT COOL!) But this year has been an exception. We haven’t had much snow (yet), and the temperature has been fairly decent, considering. The lack of white stuff all over everything makes it feel weird that Christmas is only 3 days away.

Well, hello CHRISTMAS. Please, look the other way while I quickly decorate my tree and finish wrapping presents. I wasn’t expecting you so soon!

Besides Christmas, there’s a lot of other things to look forward to during the winter season. There’s New Years eve parties (in which wearing a gown entirely made of sequins is considered acceptable – count me in), fashionable faux/vintage fur coats, winter sports, hot chocolate (don’t forget the peppermint flavored marshmallows!), and most importantly: BOOTS (aka: the loves of my life).

So while you’re freezing your arhse off trying to shovel away the ice-chunk filled snow from your thousand-mile long driveway, sobbing over your heating bill, or battling the long lines at department stores to submit a return item, think of these happy things. Besides, winter’s only here for 6 months out of the year, so you might as while enjoy it when it’s around! X-)

We are not going to have a white Christmas here in southeastern Michigan either. I’m one of those weird people that loves winter.
    Great blog!

No snow here in the UP of MI either, first time in who knows how many years! I don’t like winter but I do kinda miss the white stuff for Christmas only. Nobody wants a brown Christmas! Those boots are cute you have pictured, I’m anxiously awaiting a new pair of slouchy furry boots from my ma come Christmas day ;)

I’ve always wanted to try that peppermint hot chocolate but never have. Maybe this is the year! It snowed here weirdly really early, like in October, but it hasn’t snowed since. And this week, the temperature warmed up to almost Spring-like temps and raining. The weather makes no sense. The plants must be so confused.
