Who is the Fairest of Them All?

Saw yet ANOTHER rendition of the traditional fairy tale this last weekend. Snow White and The Huntsman had its moments, but was overall a poor movie with an uninvented plot-line. I expected the Huntsman to have a more important role, especially since he is PART OF THE TITLE this time around. Sure, he was there a whole lot, but honestly didn’t do much to move the plot along.

Overall I just craved MORE. I wanted it to be darker, I wanted the bad guise to be REALLY BAD, but with a really GOOD back story to explain WHY they were so bad (the small, foggy memory included wasn’t good enough), and I wanted Kristen Stewart to surprise me with a good performance. The poor girl only used one, MAYBE two facial expressions throughout the whole film. I kind of wondered if she was on too much botox or something, so she couldn’t change her face if she wanted to.

Out of all of the renditions of this fairy tale, this was not the fairest of them all.

If you want to see a GOOD, dark, EXCELLENT Snow White film, re-visit Snow White: A Tale of Terror. Sigourney Weaver is amazing as the evil queen, and the plot line will surprise you and keep you entranced the entire time. Otherwise, I even prefer the television series Once Upon a Time‘s version of the story to this latest blockbuster.
