I’m telling you this short-version of my growing-up sob story not so you will pity me in any way, but so I can share with you the possibility of over-coming the sucky situations that go beyond our control. I could reminisce on the co-workers who saw my mother’s black eyes but did nothing about it and conclude that the world is a terrible place not worth salvaging. But I don’t.

It’s too easy of a trap to play the victim and I won’t fall for it.

I am not sad.

I am happy.

I am not angry.

I am hopeful.

I do not feel rejected.

I am bursting with motivation.

I do not think about how unfair life is.

I think about how I can make life better.

I do not hate….

But I am always learning.

I am not depressed.

I am energized.

Today is better than yesterday, and I am looking forward to tomorrow while I enjoy it.

I work hard, and give hard, and love even harder.

I step back, see the big picture, and smile.

No matter who your parents were, where you were born, or what you’ve been unfairly saddled with, you don’t have to be the angry victim. Choose to be a big-picture person instead.

I hope you inspire to go beyond what you’ve been given, and that you recognize the special talents that only you can share with the world. I hope you take that talent and use it to move forward. We all have reasons to be angry, but we also have so many more reasons to be glad. We just have to choose to see it that way.

What is your favorite thing about creating?
I love the energy that comes out of my products. It feels absolutely wonderful and relaxing when I make a product. I love the creative process I go through and I have learned to trust my intuition in developing anything new that represents me. The more flow with my creativity the more powerful the energy is to each product I make.

Where do you find your inspiration?
I am inspired every time a client tells me the results of my work. I get to hear stories about how my products have worked for them. It truly helps me see I have something wonderful to share to the world.

Do you have any advice for other sellers?
If something doesn’t work for you, don’t give up. I have learned if something doesn’t work to try something new in place of it. The more you try things out, you will know what works for you. Stick with what works! Sales take time and every sale you make is a blessing.

‘Love is in the air’ by meravlevran

There was no question for my sense of inspiration that I needed to create a ribbon headband.

Inspired by all things vintage, I opted for a creamy ivory shade rather than stark white. This accessory glides along romantically with an air of garden party style.

The bead embroidery features ivory rose cabochons, and is stemmed with lines of matte toho beads that swirl with shades of light brown and deep gold.

The beaded design is attached to a silky ribbon for tying comfortable around your head in your favorite headband-wearing style.

While I obviously designed this hair accessory for brides-to-be, I also wanted it to be classic enough that a bride could wear it again casually after her big day, or someone might even fancy it who isn’t planning a wedding at all. Therefore, the piece is slightly less flashy than my usual rhinestone-adorned numbers.

I’m a multifaceted geek. I not only like technology in the modern sense, but like seeing how older technology can be used years after it’s considered obsolete my the majority of the public. I use a lot of obsolete but still useful equipment to create my handcraft.

Tell us about what you sell:
I sell mostly handmade cards made using a huge stock of Print Gocco materials I acquired a couple years ago but also create other papercraft (gift bags, custom shadowboxes and dioramas, etc…)

What is your favorite thing about creating?
I’ve always enjoyed putting things together to create a finished product. Creating paper-craft using screen-printing and die-cuts allows me to do this in the limited amount of space I have and keeps me out of trouble!

Where do you find your inspiration?
I’ve always been fascinated by the simplicity of the designs and trends of the 60′s, 70′s and 80′s. I try my best to capture those in my cards and other products while creating something that will still appeal today.

Do you have any advice for other sellers?
Enjoy making what you sell and market yourself in any way possible. Regardless of if you are selling in person or online through Etsy or another venue, you will find yourself smashed between multinational corporations and gaggles of other people creating similar products. You have to find some way to differentiate yourself to get your product into people’s hands.
