“Sorry I haven’t written a blog post in awhile.”
“Sorry, I suck at tweeting.”
“Sorry, I’ve been absent from my fan page for a long time.”
“Sorry I haven’t listed anything new in my Etsy shop in so long.”
“Sorry I’m such a looooooser.”
Knock it off!!!!!!! Stop it. Just STOP IT I say! Enough is ENOUGH!
I am sick and TIRED of other Etsy sellers tripping all over themselves to apologize for this or that. It is a rather repulsive behavior. I have figured the best way for you to stop this would be to get a stern talking-to: FROM ME.

Courting customers is sort of like courting a date. No one likes a soppy push-over. Confidence is sexy. You are awesome. Not egotistical, but awesome nonetheless. You need to let your date know how awesome you are so that ze will want a second date. Being a sorry sap will make people lose interest pretty fast, your followers and fans will start dropping like flies. This may cause you to want to apologize even more, begging those remaining to stay. Don’t give in.
If you HAVE been slacking in one area or another, it’s okay to address the problem, but refrain from being apologetic. Below are some re-writes of the apologies above. They are a much more interesting date, in a sense, and I may just call back for a follow-up.
“I’m BACK with a new blog post! Aren’t you excited?”
“Twitter darling, I will one day soon unlock your mysteries. #wishiwasnancydrew”
“Hello Facebook fans! I know I’ve been away for awhile, so I want to thank you for sticking around by giving you this coupon for xyz off. I appreciate you!”
“Having a life still gets in the way from time to time, but I’ve managed to list some new items in my Etsy shop finally! Be sure to check out these new beauties.”
“Sorry I’m so awesome. Don’t be jelly.”
(Okay, so that last one is still an apology, but at least it’s an ironic one.)
Go forth and be awesome my friends! The next time you feel like apologizing, RESIST!

Yes, yes, yes! I used to do this apologizing bit a LOT but now I just pick up and write like it never even happened. Why? Because…
This is so true –>
“Confidence is sexy”
And I like to delude myself that I can be sexy when I blog / list / chat / hashtag
Happy to have found your blog from the Blog Readers Etsy team!
Thanks for stopping by, you sexy confident reader you! ;-)
Blogging is SO sexy….
Isn’t it? *looks around* ;)
Thanks for posting this! I’ve neglected my blog for quite awhile and didn’t bother with the whole “sorry I haven’t updated in awhile” bit and just got down to what I wanted to blog about. When people start off posts or tweet things like that, it’s almost like Monty Python — “GET ON WITH IT!”
WOW Megan.. that was quite a rant ;p lol
I’m glad that you said something because I will admit… I am a sad-sop date… and by date I mean blogger (I am an AWESOME date! ;) lol) and now I have realised how dorky it is..
Thanks for the eye opener!!

Glad I could help! :-D
I never thought of it that way. It settled, I’m never apologizing again, for anything:p. Great advice:)
