So When it comes to watching television… I’m cheap. And by cheap I mean, I don’t like to pay for it. I watch the television shows I want on hulu for free. Paying for cable or even a low-cost service such as Netflix? Never gonna happen. I’m fine with my situation as-is. Well, almost. I’ll have to wait awhile until the latest season of The Walking Dead comes out before I can see the new episodes, because they don’t show them on hulu. Booooo! Wahhh! Whine!!!
Okay: Temper tantrum over.
There are two new shows I have been watching that I am excited about. A long-time-lover of all things fairy tale, I think it’s awesome that they are becoming a reoccurring theme in the latest shows and movies-in-the-making. two of which are new to the scene: Once Upon a Time and Grimm. I was instantly hooked on both of them with their pilot episodes. Snow White’s daughter is prophesied to rescue a group of fairy tale characters trapped in our modern world. A police detective who can see werewolves for who they really are. What could possibly be better?
I’m also excited about the new Snow White movies that are in-the-making. Not sure exactly why two different movies are being made over the same story, but whatever. I guess creativity these days is about spying on what the other studio is doing and attempting to do the same thing.

Julia Roberts as the "Evil Queen"
In either case, one of my favorite movies of all-time is Snow White: A Tale of Terror (Sigourney Weaver is deliciously terrifying as the wicked witch in this one!). It’ll be interesting to see if these new films can top it. I’m not so sure what I think of Julia Roberts as a wicked… anything. She’s just too sweet looking. But maybe they altered the plot so she doesn’t have to be evil? Not sure how they’ll make that work. Charlize Theron looks pretty wicked in the latest casting shoots though. I have no doubt she’ll be able to pull it off.

Snow White: A Tale of Terror
So fairy tales abound in film and TV! And here I thought that the Shrek series would be the finishing crescendo, glad I was wrong about that!

Just want to make sure you’ve seen The Tenth Kingdom. Its a lot of fun.
I have not. It’s a movie, right? Ima thinkin’ I need to head over to amazon and order it if so!
I actually love how fairytales have been getting popular lately. I wasn’t particularly interested in Grimm, but I do love Once Upon a Time. I even wrote about Once in one of my entries because I was dying to talk about it.
The trailer for Snow White and the Huntsmen looks pretty good. What do you think of Kristen Stewart as Snow White in this film? I think it could work.
Maybe. She looks the part, but I tend to think of Snow White as a softer person, more genteel of character (as she is played in Snow White: A Tale of Terror). I’m not yet convince that Kristin can pull that off.
I love Once Upon a Time too. I am a long time fan of fairy tales and it’s really nice to see a well written show, so far, stay true to the characters but with a twist.
I’ve been meaning to check out Grimm and Once upon a time – guess I’ll catch up via Hulu. :)
Hulu is basically the best thing since sliced bread. :-) I love catching up on show via my laptop while working on beading!
I’m hooked! I love live action fairy tales and superheroes (Into the Woods is one of my favorite productions). I followed the link to Once Upon a Time and watched all 4 episodes right away, will probably watch Grimm today, and can’t wait to watch Snow White: A Tale of Terror (don’t know how I never heard of that). Thanks for the reviews!
Oh wow…have to tell my daughter about hulu … we need to save as much as we can and since we are house bound we need the tv, I’m sorry to say. I know that someday soon we will be in a very different situation and won’t watch as much. We do so love the Grimm series and Once Upon a Time, finally some originality. Oh our favorite is Dr. Who … love it.
Thanks again for the hulu tip and Love and Light to ALL !
